I had the tranny checked out by Jon at TRE and I was swindled. My tranny is not a tre. I will however have a positive writeup on here shortly about their oustanding services.
I bought a awd TRE stage 2 off of a guy on here on the classifieds about 5 months ago. It was purchased for a build but the build never commenced so it sat for a year before it was sold to me. After installing, it would NOT go into 5. After a mile of driving I turned around and let it idle in the driveway about to break into tears. I decided to try 5th one more 'gain and it went right in! Any ways, the tranny had about 7500 miles on it now. I changed the lube at 500 and 1500 miles. Now, its shifting pretty well. 1-2 is notchy still. I also properly adjusted and bled my clutch (act 2100).
A few thousand miles ago, I notice a metallic gear type shhhhh sound that is very apparent when rolling on lightly in 5th gear going 40-55 mph. Its less apparent in other gears because it seems to be louder with speed and slight acceleration. It doesnt sound very good to me at all but the trans seems to be shifting ok. I was reading about a nut under the side case of the tranny coming loose and causing some shifter movement. I noticed my shifter moves a bit under acceleration... could that nut being loose cause the movement and or the noise? From what I can tell my cv shafts are ok and the driver side bracket seem to be tight and in place...
Anything appreciated as always.
