Auto tranny problems

I think i need a new transmission. The car won't move when you put it in gear it just sits there and revs up but won't move it's like it's in netrual all the time. Can anybody out help me please

check the trans fluid, and cables, if that doesn't do it then it could be something else.

you have probably stripped the splines in the torque coverter, it's quite common.

i have a very similar problem, i was driving and all of a sudden certain gears would give out and pop into Neutral... then when you stop, the car won't move at all, but if you turn it off and let it cool down you start it up and it runs fine... or if you shut it off rolling, then start it, your fine...

my dad is going to check into the situation, it certainly is odd... any of you got any possible ideas as to what exactly the main problem is?

I what you have going on is a different problem. The converter spline problem will stop the car from moving untill the T.C. is replaced.If your car stops moving when hot, then moves again cold it may be that something is going away in the unit and the debris that is being produced is clogging the filter. Is the no movement condition accompanied by a whining noise?
What happens with a filter that is clogging up, is that when you shut the car off the debris falls out of the filter and the car will drive ok for a while. Changing the filter is a very temporary solution as, if there is something breaking up in the trans it will clog up again soon. Sorry to give you bad news. we pulled out the tranny, and my filter was indeed badly clogged... but by doing that my clutches burnt out. which is why it slipped.... so now we replaced all the clutches that were burnt and the filter... now we have another little problem, the car doesn't jump forward a little when you put it into drive, it only beings to move at 1500rpm.. i suspect either dirt in the valve body or perhaps something electrical? need some help on the issue.

(oh and it does jump backwards when you put it in reverse, so i'm sure some of you guys know what it is, and probably know how to fix it)

Did you check the rubber in the drum? Normally you don't just throw new clutches in a failed unit?
