I was redoing my transaxle gasket because it leaked after I tightened those 36mm bolts to stop my shifter movement. This time, I shifted into reverse to see if it will hold the gold gear on there better, which it looked like it would. When I shifted out of gear, one of the 3 rectangular tabs that hold the gold gear got stuck in the out position, and didn't retract. Then I shifted into 5th to maybe reset everything, and 2 of the 3 tabs fell out, with the C clip. How are they supposed to be in there? Do I need to remove anything?

Also, it looks like the 2nd cover behind these gears is leaking a little bit too. What can I do to remove it and reseal it?

EDIT: Crap, I misspelled the title, can someone fix that for me? "Reverse Gear Problem"

The gold gear you speak of is the synchronizer ring. which goes in between the gear and then the synchronizer keys go in there, then the clutch hub, then the other keys and clip, then the sleeve and the other synchro ring for the other gear.
Those keys are directional.

Your best bet is to take the thing apart and restart. Unless you have specialty tools and equipment I wouldn't recommend it. However if you do and are comfortable with taking your trans apart...good luck. IMO leave this job to the pros.
