I've had a mess of transmission trouble within the last week. My clutch pedal would not fully depress. This kept it from pressing the lower clutch switch and would not allow the car the start. I have experimented and came to the conclusion that the problem lies within the transmission.

In trying to figure out what was wrong, I manually depressed the lower clutch switch and had a friend start the car. It started and idled appropriately. However when I tried to put the car in gear I got the dreaded grind of death from the gearbox. The car shifts through the gears with no trouble when the motor is not running.

I currently have the transmission dropped but I haven't removed the clutch and pressure plate yet. I will be replacing the pressure plate, clutch, and flywheel with an ACT 2600, street disk, and Fidanza flyhweel. Before I reassemble everything, I was looking for advice into what could potentially be the problem. I'm hoping it lies within the stock pressure plate and flywheel. The throughout bearing is working perfectly.

I will remove the stock parts today and post pictures for reference. I'm planing on pressing the clutch today in hopes of the pedal touching the floor. If not then I know I the binding problem is hydraulic.

Any words of wisdom, special prayers, etc?

i would check your master and slave cylinder and make sure that they are operating as they should....also make sure your clutch line isnt kinked somewhere...

I'll post up some pictures this weekend, but the stock clutch was all but gone. It was almost worn down to the rivets. I'm waiting on my Fidanza to come in from MAP before it all goes back together.

The pedal still wont go down all the way to the floorboard. I'm going to do as you've suggested and check for kinks in the hardline and I'll probably replace the slave cylinder. I'm going to go ahead and order a SS clutch line this weekend. I'm looking for recommendations on that as well.

Thanks!
