I've read about this being done but is it completly drop-in? The local transmission tech at mitsu said he can replace the bearings and syncros on my 1g internals and put them into my 2g case for relativly cheap as long as it all goes in right. So I just want to doublecheck that it will all match up. Its a 97 trans and tcase in a 95 tsi awd. The gearset I'd be using would be coming from a 91. Do I need the 97 or the 91 tcase? when i bought the 97 trans they said I needed to use that tcase instead of my 95 so that the gear ratios would match front to rear.

The 97 trans was rebuilt but I've had too many problems with it and think something was done wrong along the line but i don't have the money to just go with shep or tre so this is my next option. The 91 trans worked fine in my 1g it was just the 2nd gear syncro was starting to grind.

Well I'm planning to take it in the end of this week but so far all I can find searching is people saying it can be done. Hopefully it all drops in right because it doesn't look like im going to get any answers here
