I have been up and down on this topic with myself. I have heard a lot of pros/cons of installing a light weight flywheel. Is anyone running a FP3065 or equivalent with a lightened flywheel. I know in certain applications a flywheel seemed almost a useless upgrade. Im trying to figure out if anyone using a larger DBB turbo has seen good gains on this. My questions pertian to transient response, initial spool and off throttle situations going into boost. Anyones input would be valuable.

Thanks,

Thanks Jake I appreciate it. Although that thread had some info, it really didnt say anything about loosing RPM's through shifts. That is my main concern. Even though Im running a turbo with good transient response I dont want to lose that all for minimal gains. Deost the fact that I spool faster outweight the negative effects of loosing RPM's between shifts?

If you can flat or 3/4 shift fast enough or use some form of NLTS, then it becomes a moot issue. If I had the choice between markedly faster spool and boost drop between shifts, I'd choose the method that got me faster spool. After all, the boost falloff can be cured with more advanced driving techniques, while quicker spool is related to mechanical/air flow factors.

Just my .02,

Well I have DSMLink so I can NLTS but I heard this is hell on the clutch. I havent been able to run the car on my current setup as it is still in the process of being finished so forgive my ignorance. What you say here makes sense and I couldnt agree more. I guess when put into perspective I will make more power qucker vs. loosing power quicker, or at least the benifits out weight the consequences. I wish there were some sort of equation I could make out of this to help in understanding.
