hey wats up, i just got my talon today which needs a new clutch and alternator, how easy is it to put it in my 91 talon tsi awd, i have 3 different people that mite be doing it...but iono is it really hard or doable, if u want u can write a little of any tips or the main components that will be needed to take out or loosened, thanx alot!

3 people who know what they're doing.......easy
3 people who take 15 mins just to find the right size socket to get the first bolt out?..........very hard.

There is a whole vfaq on it, www.vfaq.com

With 3 people and the vfaq, you should be fine. It took me a while the first few times, now I can do it myself in a few hours.

good luck:thumb:

i took mine out today.the bellhousing bolts are 14mm,the rest should be 12mm. remember to take the speedometer cable off the back of the trans when you take it out.(i forgot that) other than that the hardest part was taking the axle shafts out .once you get past that your home free.the linkage comes off with 2 carter pins, set that aside.and having access to a lift made it very easy.but i have fwd i dont know about the transfer case and such.

i am in the process of doing mine right now..actually sitting up on jacks. Anywho its pretty easy so far. I am at the take the starter and t-case off. Its pretty much take your time. All the things are bolt on and easy to put back together. Keep your parts separted and have the right tools..you should be alright..O ya remeber when you take off the DP..if your bolts were as rusty as mine..have a impact wrench..mine helped alot with those.

mine was easy..but I have a 95 FWD eclipse gs-t so................i had never done it b4 and did it by myself in 5 hours ...now my problem is getting the clutch housing off because its what i'm replacing :(

i got a 94 - 1.8l ...did a clutch in 4 hours including cv boots...easy as anything just gotta be strong to lift a tranny...theyre like 100 pounds...i could lift dat sheeot wit one hand

i think i read on tre that the manual trans weighs 125 lbs and the auto is like 145.there not that heavy but there bulky.even if you dont have a car lift you should be fine.

Mine made me mad.. I went to replace my clutch and a front tranny seal and it wasnt a problem. It was my first time pulling an awd trans so it took a little while but I tell you its impossible to figure out where a leak is in there... so Im replacing all the seals in the trans and transfer case.. That sucks to pull it have the wrong parts (because the damn dealer) and have to put it back together with all the old shitt and not even fix it.. grrr.. hopefully this weekend I can get that ##### apart and fixed..

Theres a lot parts to remove to get at the tranny, thats just time consuming. The hard part is get the tranny off and putting it back on. I had my Dad help me put it back on, but lifting the tranny onto the floor jack when its alreay under the car is hard...no leverage.

I had never done a clutch before and in all honesty it wasn't very hard.

If you say you just got the car then a good idea might be to print up the procedure from www.vfaq.com and get a shop manual, read over both until you feel comfortable. Then following the procedure look at everything in the car that has to come off, just get yourself familiar with all the parts on the car, where everything is, etc etc. And make sure you have all the tools and label everything that comes off the car.
Good luck.
