I am looking at buying a used ACT 6-bolt awd flywheel. He says it needs to be resurfaced. Is this the same as have it stepped? Can I do this to an ACT flywheel? Thanks!

"Step Height" is simply the difference in inches btw the flywheel friction surface and the mounting surface of the clutch pressure plate. Machining the flywheel friction surface will increase this value unless the mounting surface is also machined the same amount.

RRE has a great primer (w/pics) on this whole concept :dsm:

Yes the xact flywheels can be resurfaced. But like dsm90awd said with our flywheels you have to make sure they also machine down the pressure plate mounting surface to keep the correct step height.

so I just found out that the flywheel has 110,000 miles on it. Is this still ok to use if I get it resurfaced? So I should bring my pressure plate in as well to have it resurfaced? Thanks.
