Ok, I have had this scraping sound thats not continuous but rather like a scrape scrape etc sorta sounds like the clutch fork is rubbing against the pressure plate but not in idle and not in 3rd - 5th and it doesn't make the clutch pedal shake.

The sound is coming from the front passanger side like its coming from the tranny and I remember that one of the CV ball grooves were a little worn when I rebuilt them.

I figured maybe the CV finally took a crap so I bought a new one. When I drained the oil out of the tranny the tranny oil was a grey color not the usual oil color. checked out the oil on my hand under a light but it didn't sparkle...well it did a very little bit with one tiny aluminum flake.

Like I said earlier the sound is only in 1st and 2nd. but its louder in 2nd.

Does this sound like the tranny took a crap or should I continue with replacing the half-shaft?

Check to see if the stone shield behind the rotor is rubbing. If it gets bent into the rotor it will give a sound like you are describing.

I will get on that, but that doesn't describe why the oil is grey and the sound is only when in 1st and 2nd gear.

Also forgot to mention, the sound is only when I am accelerating.
