90 trans in a 91 car? Its awd.will the shifter linkage have to be swapped?

I have searched to no avail.....will the shifter cables or linkages have to be swapped as well? i know the t-case will have to be a 90....thanks for any input.

From what I have read, you can change the bracket. I haven't confirmed this as I opted to change the shifter, cables and bracket to put my '92 tranny in my '90.

As far as the transfer case, if you are willing to pull the back cover off of the tranny, and have a '91-94 output shaft, you can remove the circlip holding the VC on, pull the ball bearing out, remove the shaft and replace it with the '91-'92 shaft then reverse the installation. One of the drawbacks are the circlip is supposed to be replaced if you remove it and it there are several options as to what thickness you need to replace it with. If you have the service CD, it tells you how to check it and what the part numbers are for them. Again, I found a transfer case easier than that shaft. Seach here for transfer case spline, you might find more info on it.
