well here's my problem. whenever i make a right or left turn my rear wheels(or maybe just one) stop spinning and start dragging. i thought it was the rear LSD but i just got a new one and it still does it. could the viscous coupling in the rear differential be the problem? or could it be the transfer case/ center differential? The car drives fine when going straight or backing up in a straight line but when you turn the wheel the rear wheels(or just one) starts dragging until i straighten the wheel again. i really think its the viscous coupling in the rear LSD though. can anyone help please.

How long have you had it? has it always done this? I'm thinking maybe someone put a spool in the center diff...

My evolution makes that sound too I still havent fixed the problem yet. I was thinking about changing the LSd. But my mechanic says its the front LSd that needs replacing but the sound comes from the rear LSd. Also when I turn it makes a knocking noice which is really loud.
Sigh...Any ideas what the problem is??

Sounds like a broken center diff to me. I have broken many before. Some times if you jack up one side so bolth wheels are of the ground and you jurk the front or back wheel back and forth hard by hand the broken gears will unbind and the wheel will spin with out the other one spining. If one spins more with out the other one spining than this means our diff is broke. It is about $200 for a rebild kit from the dealer and about 2hr labor.

Thanks for the news!!.. I will give it a try to see if thats the problem. By the way is the repair kit for Eclipse and Talons able to fit into the an Evolution 3. If so I might get it from the States it seems cheaper.
