DSMJim said:Tranny's are not 6 bolt or 7 bolt they are 1g or 2g. The 1g has a different mount point than a 2g does. The trans from a 1g or 2g will bolt upto either motor, it's where it bolts upto the sub frame that makes the difference. Any 1g trans will work in a 1g car. It won't work in a 2g car unless you convert 3 mounts over to the 1g style, even then whats the point.
Careful Jim. Don't forget about spline count. 91s and some early 92s have 22 spline count. The 92-94 has 23.DSMJim said:Any 1g trans will work in a 1g car.

i thought that was the big difference btwn the motors.
what is the difference then? anything you could see without pulling the motor?

This is off the topic - start a new thread please.waiting2bl33d said:Sorry to hijack this thread but i had a local performance shop rebuild my transmission awhile back when the engine was being swapped for a 6 bolt he changed all snyco's and 2,3 gear from a tranny just laying around. well it works fine shifts great but the car is noticeably slower than what it was at redline in 3rd I'm at around 85-90 instead of 105-110 that i had before so i guess what I'm asking is the gearing different to make me trap lower speeds? thanks
