There has GOT to be an easier way...

I took out my driver seat, and STILL didn't have enough room underneath the dash to fit my hands let alone any tools.

How did you guys do it? WTF

Anyways, this is for a 93 TSi that recently just had the clutch master cylinder changed by a mechanic, who conviently forgot to do the actual adjustment. And is so adamant that I need a clutch now that I want to beat him within an inch of his life. It was fine before, and now I literally have about 3 inches of travel in the clutch from the floor to the top. I know HOW to do the adjustment, but can't quite get in there well enough to do it.

Anyways some tips would be great :thumb:

LOL.. i think you're going a little overboard.. this is how i do it.

first.. recline your seat all the way back so that it touches your back seat.. make sure it's also slid all the way back on the rail...

then.. grab your flashlight and your 14mm wrench.. and wiggle yourself in there with your head under the steering wheel and your feet in the back seat.. facing with your head towards the roof..

then grab your flashlight and take a second to see how everything works.. push down the clutch so you know which screw to adjust (i accidentally adjusted the brake by accident once :x)

if you cant get in there that way.. you need smaller hands or something.. LOL.

you want about 1cm, 10mm of play in the pedal when you're done.

IT IS A B!TCH! I just moved the seat all the way back, reclined it all the way and put my feet on the headrest and went for it. I had a tough time doing it, the only thing i can say is put aside some time to do it because it took me forever to get it the way i wanted it. Also, I noticed that no matter how much I adjusted it, there was always this one spot that I didn't like in the pressure. Turned out I didn't bleed it good enough so you might wanna do that too.

P.s Make sure the thigh support crap in the seat is all the way down or your back is gonna hurt like mine did haha.

quick question ive been looking at clutch related forums and i cant find an answer... my clutch grabs when i let it out at approximately half way if not more out... do i need to adjust mine... replace the clutch master cylinder... or completely replace the whole clutch.. im not really familiar with clutch's but ive been told that a clutch needs to be replaced if your rpm's go up and your speed does not?... my car luckily doesnt do that... can anyone diagnose this problem? sorry for jackin the thread but you guys seem to know clutchs pretty well...

i adjusted the rod, still wont go into gear... it was fine before the install of the cylinder.

PS - the reason I was having so much trouble because im 6'4" and over 300LBS OMG

im 6' 245 and it wasnt too bad. hardest part was getting two wrenches up there to get it started.

I did it yesterday, and it was a breeze. I hope you guys are looking in the right spot. It's right beside the gas pedal (to the right of it if your's looking from a normal seating postion). There's a huge sprint and a threaded stem w/ a locknut. You'll exactly what it is once you see it or touch it.

welded pedal assembly, adjusted master rod, replaced slave, im lost, i've done everything i can think of, it still slips in 5th, and the odd time in 2nd.

what i did was turn the nut all the out so there were no threads, which turned the rod out. when I got it to where I wanted, I held the rod, turned the nut all the way back and tightened it. Done :) Also check your shift linkage bracket above the tranny. 1/2 my problem was that, it worked itself loose.
