i have 92 tsi awd with 156,000 miles on it, everything is origanal, all of the recalls have been done (transfere case). about a few days ago i noticed some drip coming off my transfere case so i took it in had had my mechanic look at it. they said that it could be the front/rear main seal (i cant remember) but they said that if its that seal im prob gunna have to get a new transmission. im just wondering if thats true or if that seal can be replaced or if there are any other seals around that area that it could be. they told me that the only way they would find out for sure is to pull the transfere case off and maybe drop the tranny witch would cost me a 100$ or so. any input would be awsome!!!

thanks,

Sounds like the recall work needs to be performed again on the t-case. You need to either have the recall redone or buy a Transfer Case Recall Kit, which is sold through HERE If you do not fix this ASAP or continue to drive on a t-case without oil in it you will lock it up and it will need replacing.

Mike, if we knew that the TC was dripping from the rear seal I say you gave him some good information. From reading the post I'm not sure where it's dripping from. I've seen drips off the TC from the axle seals and output shaft seal, so it's possible that this is a tranny problem and not a transfer case problem.

Cory, can you be a little more specific?

Steve
