I don't own a DSM yet but I'm looking at buying a slightly modded 90 1g awd. It has intake exhaust, fuel pump and wires. Well the only problem with it is that the transfer case is "Blown". I have no problem buying it if the dealership will replace it for free but i cant afford to buy it and drop a grand or two for the dealership to replace it. So I was wondering if there is anyway to tell if they are going to replace it or not without taking it in. I was reading VFAQ and they said "Because of the wording of the recall, transfer cases are not automatically replaced. All the crying and bitching in the world won't change that." So I'm just wondering if anyone could help me out on this problem, because i really want this car because there aren't many 1g s for sale in the Bay Area.

Thanks

Set up an apointment at a Mitsu dealer. Tell the owner you are going to get the car checked out. Find out if they will replace it. If yes, get it in writing and return the car. Buy car, take to dealer.

If not, Slowboy is still selling new T-cases for $500. Or you can check the trader and pick up a used working one.
