Ok so anyone ever try making Ball bearing shfter bushings for in car.

Ok, my buddy had this crazy idea, why not mod all the shifter bushings.... sounds like a great idea anyway... So tomorrow we are going to try and make ball bearing shifter bushings for inside the car.... I dont know if it can be done but hey it is worth a shot anyway... I am talking about the ones on the end of the cables if you dident already know.

Anyone have any ideas what bearings might fit?

Just put rollerblade bearings at the cable ends on the transmission. It's a cable shifter. Trying to make it feel a lot better is a losing battle.

They make aftermarket bushings.

I put in bearings from my skateboard wheels. It was very hard trying to squeeze them in, but they worked.

I made solid bushings from bearing bronze on a lathe.

At the actual shifter there are solid nylon bushings. They'll be just as stiff and slippery as a bearing or sleeve made of anything else.

igopoopy.... that would help me if I was trying to make ones for under the hood.... but if you read the post, I am trying to make them to replace the little tiney nylon ones under the actual shifter itself, in the car......

My real problem is going into 3rd gear.... Some times it Jams like I am missing the gear or something, but other times it slips right in like butta..

Sounds like you have a problem with the actual adjustment of the shift cables.
