I sent my car into the shop 4 WEEKS!!! ago to have the torque converter replaced because I was going about 75 down the hiway and it quit pulling... when they pulled the trans out to get to the converter the vibration from the converter had cracked the bell housing of the trans OMG\...so they rebuilt the trans I had into a new case...after they put it back in the trans wouldn't shift out of 3rd..it was just stuck in 3rd...so they swapped out the ECU in the trans..still stuck in 3rd...so they swap the trans out...STILL stuck in 3rd..WTF!!!!!! How can this BE...I don't get it..you swap the WHOLE transmission AND the ECU out and it still has the same problem...HOW can this be and if it CAN be how can it be fixed????? I waaaaaaant my car baaaack OMG( *cries* Help me PLEASE!!!

Well it is a electrical problem it could be one of the 4 solenoids inside your tranny. Or it could be a Pulse generator problem. Also could be a problem with the power feed to your TCM or a problem with the ground circuit.

Stuck in 3rd is called limp mode when you have a problem with the electronics you will still have 3rd and reverse.

Personally I would take it to the dealership and let the Mitsubishi tech's work on it. Most shops, atleast around here, are clueless when it comes to complicated import transmission problems.

just had my transmission rebuilt for 1,500 bucks!! i was only driving in 1st and 2nd gear cause 3rd and OD were f* cked up so bad hahaha. I had to bring it back cause i still had problems and they replaced the celinoids and it runs sweet! Just got 2 new motor mounts installed and new NGK ignition wires in today ant the car runs mint!! (121,000 miles)
