i heard from a mechanic that he was talking to a dodge parts person and was informed that our trannies have j-spec synchros with american trannies...which causes them to not totally match up....he also told me there is a TSB out for the MATCHING synchros which run somewhere in the $150-200 range and dramtically improve 1st-2nd-3rd gear as they kinda get fucced up quite a bit...im going to find the part number out within the week...can someone verify/disprove this ?? ....jus wondering if anyone else heard of this.....latezzz

I dont think so. They are copper and wear out quickly because they are soft. the 1-2 gear ratios are also a bit too far apart. the syncros have a hard time with that.

as for new syncros...even stock new syncros will make a huge difference if your tranny is old.

I thought Mitsubishi made both motor and tranny? What's "American" about our trannies?

American spec? Our cars where made in USA. And they have different specs then overseas cars. But im pretty sure those where made here also and shipped out. I dont see why the tranny would be different though.

well...it was second hand info from a mechanic...maybe he was referring to it(tranny) being manufactured in the US while the synchros were made in japan? ...late

Will somebody who actually knows WTF they're talking about please stand up, please stand up, please stand up..........
