Ok. I've stumbled across http://www.wideopenwest.com/~ksmith3289/faq/halfshaft/dsmawdhalfshaftswap.html and it talks about putting the equal length half shafts from a 1g AWD into a 1g FWD for better traction. But some special kind of spacer is requiered. I'm curious if anyone has one? I don't need to buy it. I just need the specs for it my friend can make it if I get all the specs. Anyone have one?? Please help!

I have the equal length shaft on my car. You only need one spacer about 5mm thick that'll go between the carrier bearing and the block, otherwise it goes directly into place of your stock axle.

What works good as a spacer is two washers that your old head bolts had on them. Stacked up they are almost the perfect thickness. This spacer is needed only if the A/C compressor bracket is removed (unless the bracket is different on a FWD, YMMV). You can also cut the spacer out of the A/C bracket. You also need to buy the axle seal for an AWD car on the side you put the AWD axle, as it is a different (smaller) diameter. You should also clean out the holes on the block that the axle bolts to with a tap to make sure there is no gunk in them.

I didn't change my axle seal when I put my half shaft in and no leaks. I even put new fwd seals in before I put the AWD axle in and it doesn't leak at all. Yeah if you still ahve the AC bracket bolted on the block then you don't have to make a spacer.
