hi
my car has been makeing this horrible grinding noise. It keeps gettin worse and worse.I took it to a brake shop because i thought it was that but the mechanic thinks it might be the bearings in the rear diff.Anyone know how serious this problem is and how much it would cost for repairs? Thanks

Little more info please. When does it happen? Warm cold weather? where does it seem to eminate from. Front or rear? What speed? I had a grinding noise and it was the rear wheel bearings. Replaced and good to go. btw what's you miles on the car?

if your rear end seems to be slowing you down, its the diff. get a new one, or check the fluid and it should be up to the bolt you take out. if its lower, fill it to the bottom of the bolt you take out :thumb:

It makes the grind evry time i drive it,but other then that the car drives fine.I checked under the car and in the rear end of the drive shaft it feels really loose like its gonna fall off.My car has 103,000 miles on it

i think you just figured out your own problem. get that LOOSE drive shaft checked and replaced.

Hi again
i took my car now to a transmission shop and the mechanic told me that my car needs a whole new rear end. When he told me the price i almost went in shock. He said that the parts are 2,500 and the labor is only 190 .Is this possible for it to cost that much?If so do i have any other options? He also told me that my rear end eventually will lock up and fall off.Right now if i drive the car it runs fine except that bad grinding noise that it makes.
Any info would greatly help.thanks
