A few teeth shredded off of my flywheel, needing the tranny to be pulled and the flywheel to be replaced. Upon removal, I noticed that there was a crack in the bellhousing! What are my options? Do I have a choice other than buying a new tranny?

So any welding would work? Cool, I was under the impression that it would need a special kind of welder, and that it was some other sort of metal that was difficult to be welded (sorry I don't hardly know anything about welding.)

Hey guys, I felt i should just reply to my old post since it's on the same subject. After winter has been over, and I've sold my other DSM, I'm working on this one. Once I finally got the tranny all buttoned up, I noticed that the crack had re appeared. Is there any way to have the crack welded while it's on the car or do I have to tear it apart again?

There are fuel and electrical lines nearby.. would be risky.

I would remove it and drill a hole at the point where the crack left off thereby relieving the stress. Then weld it back up.

Check your transmission mounts.
