hi i did some search on the subject but nothing too definete came up. i am about to buy this low mile 92 talon, but according to the owner the 2nd gear might go out eventually. what do the experts here recommend i do? what i mean is, which parts.

i am thinking about just doing clutch upgrade when the tranny is out. i am probably just gonna ask the local tranny shop see if they can work out a deal. i checked out TRE tranny parts, but i am not sure what to get. so just any recommendations would help. oh and also what clutch should i get?

i am not going to do more than intake, upper IC pipe and downpipe, cat and exhuast. maybe the IC. not really planning anything big. thanks in advance

As far as the clutch goes I'd get an ACT 2100... It has just a little firmer than stock pedal feel and a lot of grip. As far as the tranny I would change the fluid in there with Redline, Royal Purple, or BG Synchro shift. I personally wouldn't send it in to just any tranny shop. I would find one that specializes in DSM's and have them fix it... You can contact one of the moderators (I'm friends with L2RTSiAWD... He's really cool and always willing to help!) or one of the DSM Tuners Wisemen and ask them about who to send the tranny to, they are all really nice. Hope that helps ya! Good luck! :thumb:

Before you start worrying about the second gear grinding there are a few other problems that can cause this that are much easier to fix. First go to www.vfaq.com and read up on the various fixes others have made to the clutch pedal assembly and the clutch piviot ball. It seems like that this is more of a clutch disengagement issue. Mine only grinds sometimes in 2nd but if you hold the clutch in while rolling for a good 200ft and try to put it in gear you can still feel the gear spinning in the tranny, which by 200 feet of no clutch engagement the gear should have come to a stop. (I could be wrong though)

If you don't plan on cranking up the boost or racing then I would just stick with the factory clutch, it can take a little punishment from time to time and still hold up.
