hey, i took my car to a tranny shop the other day and they told me my slipping could either be my clutch or a viscous coupling. can someone please tell me where the viscous coupling is located? is it in the transaxle or is it in the transfer case?

If you take the end cover off the trans, you'll see this:

Next to the 5th gear set you'll see and a round cylinder with a splined shaft through the center, held on by a C-clip. Thats the VC.

Unless you changes mods in your profile since you posted this, I am going to assume you have a stock clutch. I'd say it is your clutch slipping....

oops. Just saw you replaced that this past week. Who did the clutch?

Screw this "the tranny shop told me" stuff. What are the symptoms? What is the car doing? When does it happen? The tranny shop might not have a clue what they are talking about. (<--more likely than you might imagine).
