Hey all, heres my problem

I jus got done driving 6 hours+ from norcal to socal, and about halfway i notice some issues. I stopped and got gas, and when i started the car back up, it shook violently for a minute or two. I gave it gas and it kinda stopped. Then, about an hour later on the freeway, i was cruising in 5th and gave it gas, i would hit like 10psi and the clutch would start slipping. vrrrooOOOOOMMMM, my o2 dump got hella loud, and my rpm's would jump and i wouldnt accelerate. Does this in 4th gear too.

Around this time i pulled over and checked out the car. I notice oil or something leaking from my tranny it looked like, and the engine bay smelt of sulfur almost. Smelt like freshly lit fireworks or something. I drove it to my house in socal and parked it, and i had about 1/4 quart of fuild chillin on the ground under my tranny, and i see drips commin off along my tranny from like the middle of the tranny case down to the back.

What could be the culprit? Why would it smell like sulfer? the fluid touching my exhaust pipes? My clutch is the stock clutch and has been acting perfectly fine for the past 6 months, no real slips or anything...all the sudden in 5th gear it starts slipping and i smell sulfer?

Could it be my 3 main seals? I kno theres a front and center differential seals in the bellhousing and a rear main seal behind the clutch assembly, could these cause the leak and make the clutch slip?

i need some insight please guys, im about to take it to the dealership cause i dont know shit about trannies...thanks!

most likely your input shaft has some play and/or the seal is bad and you are leaking out through there into the clutch. It's happened to me before too. Check your engine oil level .. if that's fine and your trans level is low then I'd bet that that's your problem. If engine oil is low then it's rear main seal. Either way the trans has to come off.

yea, engine main oil is about a full quart+ low. I havent checked the oil in awhile though, and its about time i change it again. How long does it usually take to drop a tranny? im gettin charged 70 an hour thru the dealership, and i told them to look for the seals.

hahah we'll im not changing the tranny, i think they'll jus be replacing my seals. sounds like my seals are broken and its leakin on the clutch causing it to slip in high gears where my top end is made. but i could still use some suggestions guys. who has had this shit happen to them before???

why does my cars fluids leaking out smell like sulfur, almost like fresh fireworks

A slipping clutch could smell like that. Get a new clutch. DO NOT reuse the old one.

Isn't it ok to reuse the clutch if it was only oil leaking on it making it slip? or does that ruin the clutch for life? wouldnt make sense if mitsu designed it so if a seal broke, ud have to get a new clutch too. i think ill call rre and see what they say too

to change any of the mentioned seals you are basically changing the tranny because it has o come off for the rear main and the input shaft seal as well.

As far as the clutch ... generally you are supposed to replace them when something like this happens. Personally I just used a lot of no residue brake cleaner and sprayed the disk, pressure plate, and flywheel down about 5 times and wiped it. Then I did it again until only clean fluid was dripping down. Then I put it all back together and it worked fine.
