ok its a 91 tsi awd automatic, i just put in a new axle cause it broke and fell out my tranny, so i put a new one in, now it seems like my tranny is slipping, and when i come to a stop it seems to bang back into gear, and seems like it slips in and out of drive, could this mean i need tranny fluid?, i checked the stick, it was bone dry...... anyone please help!!!!!

Either it needs fluid OR you didn't put the axle all the way into the tranny. Probably nto all the way in the tranny, check it again. Sometimes they can be a PITA to pop in.

is there a certain way to check the fluid, its an auto, so i let it sit in park for about 10 min, pulled the stick out, and there was about 6 inches of fluid on the stick, idk if thats bad or what, seems like its to much to me, but idk, the axle should be in all the way, cause if it wasnt then wouldnt the bolts for the axle mount not line up to the block?
