transmisson swap ecu?

I was told in order to swap auto to manaul transmission ill need a new ecu and wiring harness cost around 2000$ is this correect?

ok so you want to put a manual tranny in your auto equiped car? correct? well if your taking out your auto tranny, dont worry about the wiring harness. just leave all the plugs unplugged and you wont need a tranny ecu anymore. but u will need to splice the 2 big fat black wires on the nutral safty switch connector together to bypass the nutral safty switch, otherwise car wont crank over when your manual tranny is installed

now if you mean engine ecu, u dont need to change it either.

I just got a really nice deal on a 96 Eagle Talon TSI (it's the GS eagle but only one problem, it's an auto. (shudder)

Now, are there any places that will trade me for a manual tranny? or at least give me a really good deal on one with a trade?
