Aloha,
Blew my tranny first night at the track and now I need a rebuild. I am going to be sending my box out to Shep for the 1G rebuild/upgrade special. I am going to putting 380-450whp down by the end of the project and was just wondering if there was anything extra I should have done during the rebuild to extend the life of my tranny. I have been told that having the center dif welded is an effective means of strengthening. Any experienced opinions on this, will it be neccessary at my goal power. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Tony

It Lives...
Ok, first off, I want to hand out props to Ginsu(DSMHawaii), I never even thought to check the linkage. After my shifter fell apart I just went in to "Oh Shit" mode and didn't properly troubleshoot the problem. I DO have a bad 2nd gear synchro, which is the root of the problem but my tranny in general seems fine. What happened was I was shifting so hard trying to overcome the grind that I snapped the linkage bracket right off the block. The whole assembly was dangling in the engine bay. I picked up a couple of heavy duty washers and some #7 bolts, remounted the bracket and what do you know it lives again. My apologies for wasting anyones time with my "panic button" response to the problem but thanks to everyone for the help. Ginsu, I owe you a beer.
Peace,
Tony
