Ok, I just bought this 92 GS 2.0 off a kid that knows nothing about cars. Turns out he got it from someone I know. That kid did something to make the shift act like a short shifter, but it's not a short shifter. He said something about hacking the shifter plate?

I really don't know what he did. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? If so, is there anyway to fix that? The car runs fine, but shifting is a b!tch with the shifter this way.

Please HELP! Thanks:)

Manuals on dsm's can't have "shift plates" - the metal plate with slots for each gear because when you shift into 1st or 5th, the shift orientation goes back to the middle.

You can hack the shifter (cut out a chunck and weld it) which makes it shorter, and is better than nothing. I'm running that now and like it a lot more than the huge shifter. But a B&M short shifter, from what i hear, is WELL worth the money.

Here's a link to cutting the shifter:

I hope this helps:thumb:

this helped me....

As you can expect, this mod is non reversible so be sure you want to do this. I think I remember a new shifter will cost you about $50 from Mitsu if you want to go back.

Thanks
