The rules are out for the Pump Gas Drags, they are in the same issue of Hot Rod as the Cobra Vs STi and the John Shepherd article. I KNOW there are a few DSM's on this board that could compete well in this. They basically don't want any cars slower than 12.0 and I expect the winner will run mid to high 8's. However there is still plenty of room some of the low 11 second guys (RDRCKT comes to mind) to come out and play and get in the magazine. Has anyone run 10s on pump gas in a DSM? The only catch, like the name implies, is you have to run pump gas. I know a lot of guys on here like race gas, but I still want to see some DSM's in the competition. What do you all think?

i was also checkin out this artical. didn't someone dyno 504 or something at the wheels on 93 octane? with some good driving and weight mods this should be in the 10's.

Waste of time for any Import to enter this competition. There are some nasty pump gas V8's out there.

They are looking for a variety of vehicles, and they are giving special awards for most streetable, and other things like fastest all motor, etc. in order to get a variety of competion. Just because no one with an import will win first place most likely doesnt mean they shouldnt enter and get some recognition. I doubt you actually read the link I posted, but basically they take 3 runs, and average them to pick the fastest car. There will also be 30-50 miles of street driving, and NO SUPPORT VEHICLES allowed. I still think a DSM could do rather well in this. I just want to see someone with a DSM or any import really make it into the pages of Hot Rod and get some recognition.

i think that with the right setup, there would be a good chance of a dsm getting into this contest. it seems like they are looking for a diverse field of cars new and old. not necessarly all 8 second pump gas beasts but a variety of 8-12 second streetable cars.

question? do they have to run street tires or are slicks ok?

I'm not sure about the tires. They said they have a special award for the fastest car on Drag Radials so take that as you will, it could go either way. I would think that since they are looking for street cars, that it would be a street tire shootout as well.

I believe in the rules it states that it can be DOT tires.

It's gasoline that HOT ROD provides but they say it will be 93.

the guy from agp i think with the targa eclipse put down 503 on pump gas.
