My first time at the track with my AWD, and I was having a problem rolling at the line and always red-lighting. So I tried this wierd technique with the Ebrake up, pump the gas constantly to build boost up to the rpm I want, clutching it out just enough to where the car feels like it wants to move before the light turns green, and then droping the ebrake. It neted me some very quick times ( 1.79 and 1.81). My question is, is this bad for the car as I only do it right before the light turns green for less then a millisecond? I've seen a video on here of a guy autox-ing doing it so I assumed its ok. Anyone else do this at the 1/4 mile?

I'm assuming it's an automatic? I don't think it's bad. if it's and automatic try putting it in 2nd and do the rest of the the stuff you do that same, as soon as it's time to go put it in first and let go of the brake

I'm assuming it's an automatic? Try doing this instead then put it in second, torque brake it and as soon as it's time to go drop it in first and let go of the brake

I have done it many times as well and never had any ill effects from it. My AWD wants to roll at the light as well.
