....I won't make this a long post, but to say today was one of the toughest driving days for me is an understatement.......first, I thought I might have rooked the headgasket, it turned out to be a leak on one of the heater hoses....so that was my loss of coolant.....FIXED this morning and went to the track.

I had multiple passes in the 12.2-12-3 range....mid 111's MPH

Later in the day I was getting into a groove.........and the end result was a [email protected] and the new best for me is: and I can't believe how close and all my friends in the stands apparently reacted as such....

[email protected]

That close! I made a 12.1 pass after and missed third on my last pass...that's it.

So, a step in the right direction...and having the AFC in definitely helped.

My best 60' of the day was 1.67, best 1/8 was [email protected] on the 12.00 run. Can you guys believe it....? I never thought this was going to be easy at all with whats done to the Talon, but, I thought I might come out with 2 or so 11 sec. passes. I will try to get a video of that run up here. Last....boost was 19 or so and it was running well at that level....I never got it up to 21 where I normally run. I think this is in part due to the fact that I have two leaks in the turbo/manifold area. After today, I will keep going, but, if I do keep this car, a turbo upgrade is a must. I will at least repair all leaks and play with suspension and welded diff or viscous for next year early in the spring. But, I am done for the year.....driving back from the track which is about a 100 mile trip, the Talon turned over 79,000 original miles.

SO, I'm still [email protected] a little closer to 11's now! The new best is my best ET and MPH to date.

I tried....so, what do you think?

nice times phil. just think, if you skipped breakfast and lunch that could have been enough weight reduction to get you into the 11's LOL :D

When I was chasing your last record in the spring, I used to think: “If I break Phil’s record, I will surely break into the 11’s”. I didn’t think that it was possible to break it and still stay in the 12’s… Well, you proved me wrong! :)

Congrats on the new best and I am sorry that you could not make it into 11’s.

quickersol---that is funny.....actually, some of the guys were joking about the same thing........telling me to go use the bathroom and stuff! Thanks....

Leon-----yeah, it was a tough one today.......unreal................

But, a definite jump in MPH which was cool.....

...and you were right about the leakage at the turbo...I just had no time to deal with it..........I definiteky have at least tow leaks between the head and the turbine.....

No biggie about no 11's................on my 12.050 run, I shifted to soon out of second into third....that might have been the pass......but, it is what it is. Maybe next time, if there is a next time, at least on the 14b.....I just don't know, I might hang it up at 12.0 for the 14b on a stocker motor. Who knows what my motivation will be.......but, thanks for the props. I think some suspension tweaking may help launch and shifts.................the car does too much moving around.

ps- for those who don't know my previous best was [email protected]

Great effort Phil. Good luck in the spring. :thumb:

awesome phil :thumb:

hopefully next spring you can crack into the 11's on the 14b. what turbo are you thinking about or is that going to be figured out over the winter?

I need to fix the exhaust leaks. I need to drop the car more and work with the suspension, it has Eibach pro, but with all the weight out, it sits higher than stock if thats possible. The car is very sloppy coming out of the hole...alot of up and down motion. I may have the viscous welded to help with the launch. There are a few more things can do with weight reduction......and I have a few little tricks that I might try. Some want to see me drop the exhaust and just run off the o2, but, I'm not sure I want to do that...what do you all think?

By the way, my race weight was 2760 yesterday.......subtract 185 for me and you have 2575 curb weight on the car with between 1/4 and 1/2 tank of gas.

hell yea man, i was after the 14b record this year for the 2g. but all i could muster was a 12.67 @106 on my '95 awd. i'm using a stock smic and stock downpipe. i haven't ran 1/4 mile since the shootout when i put down that number in the middle of the day!! but my best 1/8 time is 8.069. i'm doin some major engine werk over the winter in preperation for a FP 3055. but i'm thinkin about slappin on the 14b to shoot for the record. congratulations again though on such a great accomplishment.

hell yea. i'm gettin a bunch of new parts this week. so i'll finally be able to start building my six bolt!!

Congrats on the 12second flat run man. But not to worry, your not alone, my friend has a '02 Z28 camaro with a cam that dynoed 407 RWHP at Extreme and he was fighting the 12/11 second boarder for a while. but he finaly ran a 11.94 at 118mph. I don't know how many times i saw him get 12.00's at the track and not quite 11's. I'm sure he can relate. What kind of tire pressure do you recomend for my BASIC set up. Should i keep the tires around 30-32 and just try to slip the clutch more, or try leting out some air and keep dumping at 5500-6Grand? Also do you let off when you shift? I think if i'm a little harder on the shifting it might release a tenth or two. Thanks guys, you really are an inspiration. :thumb:
