sweet, i just got back from brainerd and ran 12.5 @ 109mph. also ran a few 12.7's and 12.8's even though the track was kind of shitty, it rained all day up to about 20 minnutes before they started running cars. also ran a 1.67 60 foot time with the stock clutch!

mods are:

14b
fmic
3" exhaust
k&n
dsmlink
walbro 255

stock injectors and stock clutch. car is a 95 eagle talon.

Huh........? Why does your profile list all these mods:

T3/T4 (50 trim, stage 3, .63ar), Turbonetics T3 mani, Tial 35mm, custom FMIC, custom 3" turbo back exhaust with megan muffler, 720cc injectors, DSM Link, Walbro 255, Custom intake, 1G BOV, alot of guages

i was running a t3/t4 but had trouble getting everything working right on the car. i had a 14b laying around that i put on for the last month or so, so i could still race the rest of summer. the t3/t4 will be going back in this winter along with a built motor :D

Wow great time. I did not think the stock 450s would be sufficient for such a time and a 109 trap speed.

Sweet! Nice runs.......gotta love the 14b!

I ran 113MPH with the stock 450cc injectors...finally, I have 550cc in place......my car is very light though.....

Very Impressive!

Phil, I remeber reading in another thread that you were going to dyno your car with your new mods. Just wondering if you got a chance to do so and if so what kinda numbers did you put down???

Sorry for the hi-jack:)

Phil1320,
What's up man, how are things working out for you up north? Have you heard that extreme is moving to odenton MD now, i won't be able to swing by on my testdrives to pick up parts anymore, but atleast my car's running now. Took it to Captiol Raceway on friday night for my first run at the track. I ran a 13.64 @98.6 I'm kinda trying to see how far i can get with my 14b, currently i have 2.5"catback, 2g exhaust manifold, 7cm turbine housing from Small 16G, hacked aircan, K&N, MBC, ACT 2100 and a full tank of 94octane. Boost was set to 16.5psi roughly. I only got a 1.82 60foot time, but then again this was my very first time at the track. Other than those mods, i have taken out some weight, but nothing like you. Front Bumper support came out today, this gets addicting fast. Well take it easy Phil.

Hmmm, no mention of race gas or weight reduction?

...I did dyno the other night on the Dynapacks......

284.7HP .............. 271TQ

the car feels killer...........that was at and average of 19psi, cuz the 14b doesn't like to hold solid boost in 3rd for some reason....in 4th it holds solid, or did before my last little addition of mods.....

Phil1320

woops my bad. the gas was some no name 110 octane and i had approx 150lbs in reductions. i'm taking out almost another 100lbs and giving it another shot this wensday.

I don't think it will be that easy though.....but, you never know....

thanks Travis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll keep you posted..........

Talk to you soon..

Hey Quick I'm running a 97 Spyder with a brand new 14b that I recently ported. It really pulls hard now, but the weight of my car is killing me. On the old 14b (that had some bent fins and large cracks in the exaust housing) I was running 14.9:( ...This new turbo feels much stronger on the top end...What can I do to get into the low 14's poss high 13's

Mods: New ported 14b and 2G Ported O2 Housing, Ported exaust manifold, ported the exaust side of the head, 3" down pipe, 2 1/2 Race cat, 3" cat back exaust, RRE upper intercooler pipe w/ 1G BOV, custom 2 1/4 lower intercooler pipe, Custom 2 1/4 intake pipe w/ cut internal return pipe, Check Point Hi-Flo Filter, Walbro 255 fuel pump, Boost Controller set at 16 psi.

i would get dsmlink as the next mod. once you learn how to tune the mods you have you'll notice a huge difference. at this point i would much rather have dsm link than a bigger turbo. it will allow you to run higher boost more efficently and also allow you to advance your timing easily. you could net 30-40hp doing this. also, weight reductions help alot imo. i also take out my headlight at the track and run with a wire mesh filter (virtually no restriction) you can even ice down your intercooler pipes before each run.

You must have one fast 14b powered 2g, because I raced a friend of mine on the highway yesterday three times, although he doesn't have a 14b he does have a much BIGGER TRE ported 18g with a 15 degree clip, fmic, 625's, and dsmlink, full exhaust etc. I know he's not running 109 traps. He is tuned extremely well though. I on the other hand have a ported FP Big28, 550's, Large GReddy fmic, and s-afc, with full exhaust. I'm very untuned, and I don't even have a logger as of yet. We went at it from a 3rd gear roll two times, and a 4th gear roll once. I would pull him about two car lengths everytime. My 97 GST weighs 3080lbs with me in it. I have done some weight reductions, but I still figured he would atleast stay even with me since he has a larger turbo, and the fact that he is tuned very well, but it wasn't the case. We were both running 20psi on pump gas. So if you are pulling off 109 traps in a 2g 14b powered awd with the stock 2g tb, intake manifold and head, that is awesome!:thumb:

Ok What is DSMlink and how much does it run. I have a wire mesh filter now...and wouldn't a S-afc and FMIC help first???

sweet, i got a 12.512 @ 109.4 today from the car. almost a 12.4!! i don't think the stock clutch will hold up for any more runs, its starting to slip in all the gears.

DSMLINK is a tunning software for 2g dsm's. an AFC will work but imo dsmlink is much better. its similar to AEM's EMS engine managment system but easier to use. goto www.dsmlink.com for more info

Geez nice runs! What were the 60' times? What is the weight of the car?

Yea AFC (less than) DSMLINK (less than) AEM EMS. DSMLINK lacks a lot that the AEM can provide. The DSMLINK always reminded me sort of as a between step before a full standalone (albeit VERY close)

can i ask what u took out for weight reduction?

i now weigh in at 2885lbs without driver and with 2-3 gallons of gas. i removed:

spare tire and jack
rear seats
misc rear pannels and brackets
rear speakers and brackets
carpet
about 1/2 of the rubberized undercoating
passengers seat
front and rear bumpers
rear seat belts
fog lights
horn
glove box door and brackets
i also have 17" wheels which are most likely a bit lighter
and kyb struts and coilovers (slight reduction)
also turbo back exhaust which is lighter

my goal is under 2600# by next spring, still left is:

more sound deadener
race seat
new custom fiberglass dash and console
no heater or ducts
compleate ac system
exhaust heat shields
rubberized coating in wheel wells and under car
lots of small misc stuff
no air bags
lighter steering wheel
centerline 11lb wheels
redoing the wiring harness to simplify and reduce weight
lighter aftermarket intake mani
removing abs
lots of small stuff under the hood
carbon fiber hood if needed
replacing spare tire well with sheet aluminum
removing factory gas tank and replacing with small fuel cell

hopefully thats enough to get to 2600# or less :)

damn nice job i wish u could have told me it still looks like a daily driver but good luck to u

damn! that's nuts, i ran 12.67 @ the shootout wit my '95 talon on a 14b. but i still have a stock smic, stock dp, and just an safc, i was only runnin on 103unleaded too. what's up wit everyone suddenly jumping on the 14b bandwagon??
