WRX beat me by half a car length

Hey everyone, well u see the topic a 02’ WRX beat me by half a car length, and I’m a little upset about it

Just this weekend I just bolted on my new 16g and boy do I love it!!! when he asked me to race I was almost for sure I was gunna beat him. Let me remind u I have FWD, Heres my mods - ported small 16g with j-pipe/lower intercooler pipe, Accel spark plug wires, Denso iridium spark plugs, Pacesetter air filter, Turbo xs blow off valve, turbo xs boost controller, custom upper intercooler pipe, arospeed muffler, all free mods, Auto meter triple gauge pod with Auto meter boost, air/fuel, and volt gauges, blitz turbo timer

Well I was cruzing through town tonight and this kid from out of town rides by me and shoots his BOV at me, I pulled over at a park to talked to some over my buddies and he pulls up and asked me if I was looking for a race so I jumped at the chance and told him lets go so we went out in the country where we have a ¼ marked, we were racing from a stop and one of my buddies was flagging when we went I had him off the line but once he launched he was gone, all I could see out of the corner of my eye was him launching big and he had me by about a car and a half and I caught up slowly but by the end of the ¼ he had me by half a car I was looking at his taillight when we hit the ¼, I was mad, I so thought I was gunna beat him to.

Well leave a post and tell me what u think, and what a WRXs suppose to run in the ¼?

Just thought I would share my WRX expericances.

The fist one was late at night in town. We had been seeing each other and finally found an open stop. We started from about 45 mph and ran until about 80-90. I didn't downshift and stayed in 3rd the whole time. We where side by side the entire time, niether pulled an inch on the other.

The next one was on the interstate. We took it up to 135 for a while. I had to back off the gas to not pass, and I know I could have easily passed.

This was in my 98 gsx, 2.5" turbo back, stock cat, UICP, 1g bov, K&N, all the free stuff, running about 17 psi on STOCK t25.

Have sense moved up to ported 14b, and ported everything that I had to take off to do it.

he said that all he had done was a BOV and a k&n filter and his was a 5 speed and mine is an automatic

oic... k, that kinda does make sense now, the top end is hindered a little cause of the automatic, it's all good man... that just means u have a little more work ahead of u, time for cam shafts

yes, off the line, auto is bad-ass... but when acceleration comes into play, because of the mechanics of the auto-tranny, the manual will take over... don't trip man...

so this means you had a arospeed muffler put on your stock piping? Dude you have the intake part get the exhuast part done. Thats at least 30hp+ just going to a full REAL!! exhuast not just a muffler. ALso that the stock IC will heat soak after a few runs on a warm day, get a suprasidemount or somthing. Also get a damn fuel pump!!! And what boost are you running on the small 16g?

You wonder why you lost.. its b/c you dont have shit for your car to support that 16g. I dont even have enough, mine runs strong but not near how it should.

Here is your list of things you need:

Fuel pump at least a 190
FULL exhuast
~intercooler~
~egt~

~ items are not a must but a good idea.

Get those done and race him again.

also what boost are you running?

yeah seriously, thats the stupidest list of mods ive ever heard, no intake or exhaust.....? oh ill just throw in a filter and a muffler, that ought to do it, go buy a civic or something

Yea, I think it does say something about full exhaust and intake, if my little t25 was at least as fast as his 16g and could keep up with a wrx.

dude you need to shut up. I mean really. His remarks were not needed you are right but think about what YOU just posted. You posted a death and you wanted to know why you lost. I pointed out that you need more shit done to your car before you can even take advanage of that turbo. And you still have not awnsered my question on what boost you are running. And the other thing is, if you knew anything you would be reading the boards and relizing that you need more stuff to run that turbo properaly. Just to save you some frustation of blowing your engine up. Dont run more than 13psi please. and if you do please dont come here bitching about how you blew your shit up. i know i need more mods its just that i dont have the money right now, my t25 kitcked the curb so i had to go get a turbo so i thought i might as well upgrade, so buying that kinda set me back a bit,

and im running at around 12 to 13 psi right now till i get more mods

just keep the boost around there, till you get a few more things. Take your time and mod right the first time it cost less in the long run. There is a HUGE difference from going 12psi on stock exhuast to 15-17psi on full exhuast. trust me i did it and i about shit myself. good luck
