UPDATE! Look on page 2 for 9-26-12 update!
Went out to Milan Dragway tonight hoping to get the car back dialed in. Set a tentative goal to get under 12.5 being it's the first time out since I blew it up last year. Changes made since the 12.05 was the swap back to a stock 6 bolt shortblock with unknown miles, the DSS 3" aluminum driveshaft, and a set of HKS 264/272 cams. Weight has stayed about the same at 2740ish being I gained a couple lbs. myself to counteract the aluminum driveshaft haha!
First pass I totally forgot how to drive the car. Launced it while burning up the clutch slipping to slow, missed 2nd gear, and who knows where my shift points were at. Still managed a 12.78 @ 113, 60' was 1.75. Second pass I concentrated on the launch and the 1-2, the rest of the shiftpoints were all over the place, most around 7k which is too high, but resulted with a 12.12 @ 113.5 2nd best 60 ft I've pulled with a 1.66. I was pretty happy with that and instantly started to think that it might happen. I pulled a % of fuel out across the board (AFR's were around 11.4-11.6ish). Felt the track give way badly on the 3rd launch, prep was terrible, still managed a 12.14 @ 114.2 with a 1.73 60'. A new best MPH at least!
I decided to park the car and watch some racing to let it cool down a little bit instead of hotlapping again (track was busy so it was getting close to cooled down anyways). Sat for about 20 minutes with the wifey and then headed back to the car. Decided to turn the boost controller a half turn, I was at 20psi, figured getting closer to 21 would be better.
Launch felt the same as the last one, spinning all 4, managed a 1.72 60' and concentrated on shifting better. Finally NLTS the whole pass and hit my shifts at or near 6500. I knew it felt like a better pass. Pulling around to the pick up my time slip I kept thinking it had to have been a 12.0? just to screw with me. I grabbed the timeslip and had a hard time reading it in the dark, all I saw at first was the 13.??? that the mustang next to me had run. Then I spotted my side of the slip 11.90 @ 114.8!!!!! Swung around to my wife waiting for me and gave her a high five! I still am extremely excited! I was shaking pretty bad, my wife was just laughing, but she managed to get a video of the run. It's a bit shaky but it works
I've got to throw a thanks out to a couple people here:
First, My wife who puts up with my somewhat expensive hobby and supports me all the way. She is nearly always my only "track crew".
Phil Beers, no one has been more of an inspiration to my 14b goals then Phil. He's been a true professional and has shared so many tips and secrets along the way I can't ever thank him enough.
Dave Womer, another small turbo guy who has done amazing things with the 14b. Dave is quick to share from his experiences and has been another true inspiration. I've picked his brain more then once.
The 14b thread guys, you all know who you are, the support and ideas have helped immensely!
Video Link: Listen through the end closely, my wife is kinda funny.
