I have not had my car to the track yet but have raced cars like mine locally. Ive also seen what times are listed on our site. Why does the equal DSM year and model with the same mods have huge timeslip differences? They say a 1G talon/eclipse with stage 1 mods should be close to 300HP and run easy 13s... But i see these cars with bigger turbos, FMIC, race fuel, fuel mangagement ect. running 14s???? IS this just poor driving? My 91 talon TSI has 3" downpipe and exhaust, K+N, free mods, walbro 255, BOV, MBC, Ram clutch, and 171,000 miles. My friends Laser Turbo has all this done PLUS A 16G, 550s, ported o2, magnacores, DIS III, SAFC, FPR, Fresh engine, and HKS cams. We have raced several times and i have never lost. I can take him off the line and he never catches me. I have bracket raced for many years and get off the line fast but come on here? Is it common to find heavily modded DSMs running 14s?
Someone agree with me here or make sense of this please:confused:

I agree. That's why some of the more experiencd DSMers on this site get a little agitated when newbies post stupid questions. They could be so much faster if only they listened to our advice. Instead they have to be a rebel, go against the grain, don't read the tunng guide, etc. Luckily there are a few that go faster with a few choice mods, and those are the ones that will go really fast when they get more mods. It sounds like you're on the right path, you have the best first mods. Your friend probably needs some tuning and/or a few other supporting mods to get the most out of his setup.

Track racing content: Getting off the line first will overcome a slight power deficit. If he's tuned well, he should be catching up at higher speeds. Have you tried racing from a second gear roll? That might be a better indicator of power.

He has a slight advantage on a rolling start, but only if he hits the gas at choice RPM, otherwise he chases me for quite a while, Actually he called me today and told me he blew his head gasket again... It is a new engine built by a local shop and its already on its 2nd head gasket.
This is why im just ordering a complete engine from Slowboy racing, complete and ready to drop in by somone that knows their way around a DSM. I did get to race a 02 Ford Lightning SVT last week though, I must be in the 13s cause he had a K+N and Drag radials and it was a dead nuts even race from 0-80. That when we ran out of road. Hoping the track opens soon, i feel naked with no timeslips in my profile:(
