We didn't quite reach our goal of an 8 second pass, but I'm starting to think it is next to impossible on these tires and the factory IRS suspension configuration. It launched pretty hard (Best 60' 1.45) but as soon as it hit second which was out of the traction compound it was all over the place. We may try again this season, but it's getting a solid axle and bigger tires this winter for sure!
Edit: I forgot to mention this pass was at about 830whp as anything more would simply overpower the tires at half track.

Whoa, I missed this somehow. A solid axle with some anti-squat will probably do wonders at the gear change, even more so at the launch. When the ass end squats that hard it's unloading tires reducing traction. You'll see huge gains from that without ever turning up the power knob.
Congrats on the low 9s! Next year should be a good one for you guys...
