Yeah, I did it to try to increase my ability to launch a lil but the track just wasn't capable of handling the shock on the tires with the stock suspension. I saw some pics that the track photographer took and it was obvious that i was unloading a ton of weight off the front end due to the stock suspension(rear end squat).
I was able to get a 2.48 60' out of it, while the tire pressure was right around 23 psi. That equated to a 10.83@66.161mph. My best mph was 66.7 in the eighth. I know that without any engine work that the fwd 420a are capable of way faster, but with everything stock i just couldn't do it. I have in my mind of doin a short throw shifter, stage 1 or 2 clutch and a set of steelies with some nitto 555r's or some type of drag radial for the track. I also know that with some suspension work (atleast in the rear) i could get this thing to launch a lot better than what i did tonight.
Also, I believe that i didn't spin the rim at the launch, I did a no lift shift (still using the clutch, of course) going into third and i think thats what did it when i let go of the clutch pretty harshly.
I am also a racer at heart and know parts can be hurt, so being though this is my daily driver i don't plan on getting too carried away with this as of yet. I would just like to see a solid or low (if not better) 15 equivelant time for the eighth (### we don't have 1/4's out here within safe driving distance) on the 100% stock engine. That is also including intake and exhaust piping.
I did however forget to do 1 thing i normally do at the track during racing, which is pull out the air filter to reduce the vacuum caused by the restriction (but with the stock air box i guess that it probably wouldn't make that much of a difference.
