HEY YOU 420A ALL MOTOR GUYS!!! Eh, they'll never hear me. They don't come in here :p .

14.332 @ 95.77 with a 2.046 launch

Dropped her down a little more this weekend at E-town. Very crowded but lots of Mitsus from different areas. Met a lot of "new" mitsu guys there (nice to meet up with you that day, Bruce. Good to put a face to a name. you gots' my respect - like that means anything WTF ). Pretty cool. Ended up figuring out what launch I wanted (though I will probably not be able to use it this year. Looks like the last run for the season), but I decided that on my last run. Maybe one more day before I hibernate.

congrats man. My friends is running a t04b turbo on street tires and can only pull a 14.8. How's it feel to smash turboed fwd cars times?

Actually yes, the other day my mechanic's wife ran a 14.32 in her AWD with a 16g at 13psi. She had a response of .03 So basically perfect run. Congrats to you for hittin right where she did.

Thanks for the support guys. Us NA folks need lovin' too ;) . I generally beat out the stocker FWD guys and the stocker AWD guys at the track. Right now I'm aiming for the stage 3 SRT guys who run at the track. They generally run high 13's - low 14's.

My favorite comment at the track?; So, how did the turbo install go? :sneaky:

Just havin' fun,

If only the NA cars were as light as hon-duhs. Nice times man, keep up the good work. :thumb:

Thanks Greg.

Yeah weight is certainly a problem for our cars. I'm starting to think that my power to weight ratio is going to keep me from better than 1.9 launches. I've lost some weight (the usuals; seats, spare tire, AC etc. plus a little more) but not honda weight class.

BTW, I generally crush the Hondas that come to the track. They are either sub 11's or over 15's with body armor and general rat traps.

Congrats again on your times, was nice meeting you. My car was the one Bruce was using as a "bun warmer" in the staging lanes  :p :dsm:

LOL! Hahaha, that is actually a good description! I remember him sitting there. So he was warming up the ass eh? Groovy.

We'll catch you again in the lanes,

Without sounding condescending or pedantic, I'm very proud of the times you've run. I'd love to see that thing on slicks and a locking diff. I guarantee she'll run darn close to 13's.

Way to go Mark! We're all rooting for you. Yes, even the turbo guys.

No Andy, I appreciate the compliment. I know you can understand the theory of relativity going on here. I have run in 10 sec cars and 20 sec (?, OK maybe 25 sec) go carts. It's all about comparing apples to apples (and seeing if you can have the fastest apple :p ).

As for slicks and LSD, unfortunately, I'm already on them (I believe my profile reflects that). Oddly enough I can get about the same launch on my drag radials as I can get out out my slicks (but I'm running my slicks more for taking out the spin in my 1-2 and 2-3 shifts). That's why I'm wondering about my power to weight ratio only allowing me around a 1.9 :( . BUT, I have had only 7 launches on my LSD (one of them smoked my ring gear - my bad). That allowed me to come up with what launch I wanted to use (it's a variation of a RWD V-dub launch I used to use), but I haven't had the seat time yet to work it.

I'll run again tommorrow. We'll see.

Thanks again,
MB

Just curious have you tried preloading the suspension. "Via the evil eagle way" or like a ratchet strap and crank down on the rear.:sneaky:

Not sure what the "evil eagle way" is but yes I did consider various different concepts of suspension set-ups. The ratchet reminds me of the preload we used on GTO's and Mustangs. They would literally be chained in place on the front ends :p . But if you had the power to bring the front end up she would come down pretty hard, LOL!

As for the FWD's, I suscribe to the theory of keeping the front end loose so that the body can sway up while the contact patch stays down (I also lowered the front end by 2 "). I have an approximate camber adjustment of 2* for the front end launch. I keep the back end high (stock level) and hard (to try to keep the body from swaying to the back) that allows you to keep the weight transfer to the front. I actually considered making posts with poly ends to put in the rear suspension. The honda guys I know use stacked bump stops. I will probably go with that just because it goes with my concept of using used stock/junkyard parts to keep the cost down (us former VW bug guys are notoriously cheap). I watched some vids of mine and my runs and the body sway is actually pretty limited.

But I'm always open to any theory/suggestions that make me think. :thumb:

Thanks,
MB

Preload with the E brake. pull the brake let out the clutch a little and the car will squat. then dump the clutch and brake at the same time.

Yep, always do. I have done this for so long that it is a natural movement for me. It feels funny trying now to try to do it without the e-brake. It also keeps the "gear lash" to a minimum.
