Braggin' Rights was this past weekend and I have been looking forward to it for a while. I finally got the car running right even though I have some strange boost leak that I cannot figure out where it is coming from. We ended up going on Sunday which happened to turn out to be a good decision. All of the major events were on Saturday so it was dead on Sunday. I paid 15 bucks and ended up running 17 times with plenty of time to cool down between runs.
The very first run I made with pump gas still in the car was a 13.3 @ 102 with a 1.72 sixty and I missed second gear. I thought for sure that I would be able to take home a 12 second slip after that run. I was knocking down consistant 13.3's and 13.4's but I couldn't get the car to go into second gear to save my life. I went and bought some C16 to see if we couldn't get the trap speeds to go up.
Me and a buddy of mine were taking turns running the car and we were playing around with the way that we were shifting out of first and he figured out that if you shift early that the synchro will be able to handle the rpms better. We also figured out that the guys that mounted my tires ended up putting 47 pounds of pressure in which was causing me to break the tires loose off the line. He ended up making the fastest run in my own car with a 13.035 @ 104.92 with a 1.700 sixty foot. After he made that run the tranny was starting to get bad and was actually wanting to pop out of first for no reason so we put it back on the trailor and came home.
We only ended up losing to one car. It was a SRT-4 that I missed 2nd gear on (again) and he ended up running a 13.4 to my 13.9. I was constantly knocking down faster times than him except for the run that he lined up against me on (go figure). I had him off the line and I missed 2nd and wasn't able to keep him from pulling me up top.
After all is said and done, I am happy with the car. It is definately capable of running consistant 12's if the tranny was there to hold the power. Here is a link to the timeslip if you guys want to check out the fastest time of the day.
