Toronto,
Just wanted to know what size slicks are some of the DSMers using at the track and with what size rim?

There is a huge "FWD drag" thread up above that has your answer. Most people are probably going to say 8.5/24.5-15 which is obviously on a 15 inch rim to clear the brakes.

I have been wondering slick sizes as well.I have been told that 15s barely will clear, how did you fit 13s on there.

from what i understand 8" wheel is the widest you can get to fit with out modding. 4.5" or 5.5" backspacing will both work on a 8"

25x8.7x13 M&H on a 13x8 weld racelite, i use a 5/16" spacer and they fit perfectly...i can even do full lock turns

What kinda rims are you guys using, i gotta set of 24.5 X 8 X 15, mouned on stock PT cruiser rims and they dont line up. I was told that RX7,MX6 rims will work (88-92 years) Are there direct bolt ons?

Most Chrysler and Dodge cars have the 5x100 bolt pattern, you need 5x114.3(same as 5x4.5"). Check out this site, http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse.com/Vehicle_Bolt_Pattern_Reference.cfm, it should have all the info you need to compare the bolt pattern of other brand wheels to your own.

Last season I run with M/T 24.5x8x15 on my evo3 old setup. Best 60ft 1.76 and 1.90-1.95 avg, with stock open diff.

this year, with my new setup (agp l2R, intake+cams) I will try M&H 26x8.5x15, with my quaife LSD. I look foward to see the difference. I hope ton make 1.80 avg

Anyone running the AWD big brakes and slicks? If so, will 15" wheels still fit? What kind of wheels?

I'm running AWD brakes on my '90 and I'm using 15x8 draglites with a 4.5" back space and a 5/16th spacer. Clears everything fine.

22x8x15 MT ET Drags, I run mostly 1/8th mile so the shorter tire gets me to the top of each gear quicker, and no I don't spin them alot my 60's are 1.7-1.9's on stock 160k suspension.

Where did you get the ATS wheels? I am not able to find them to be purchased anywhere I have searched.

Thanks.

I bought them from Tire Rack when they used to carry them.

Only one place orders them anymore and they only sell miata parts, but I guess you could see if they could get you a set in.

Hope this helps.

You guys running slicks, do you have heavy duty axles? I want to run a drag radial since I'm afraid I might snap an axle.

Stock half-shafts for me. But I guess im not running a whole lot of HP either.

I was just checking your mod list and noticed the 66 with a 2332, YEHAWW a bugger :thumb: ! I'm jumping up and down in my seat right now! I used to build and play with these! Are you familiar with SCORE? Are they around anymore? Have you run the 2.3?

But I digress. Everytime you go to the track you stand a chance of snapping axles (especially FWD). That's why when many people go they bring axles with them. It's something you can do at the track. Are you going to stand a better chance of snapping an axle with drag radials? Yeah, a little bit, because they grab better. But I'm guessing from your mods that you aren't pushing so much power that it is a likely event. If I was you, I would go with the drag radials.

But again, I'm not you and you're not me. If I was you then you would be me etc....

Drag radials are WAY, WAY harder on parts than slicks. Up to the 600whp range, go with 26" tires. You will break axles periodically at this point. Stock stuff won't live with 28's at all. Up to 400whp or so, 24.5's do well. Read up on people's experiences on honda-tech, there is a ton of info on FWD cars with slicks, power levels, 60' times, etc.

If you run too big of a slick for your power level, you'll have to hit it so hard off the line for it to work that you won't have enough power to keep it spinning and you will get into tire shake. Tire shake will damage more parts than you can imagine.

I'm running 28x10.5's on a 10" rim, best 60' of 1.388 so far. There has been a learning curve with these to keep from shaking them. That learning curve was much easier with smaller tires.

Run the smallest diameter wheel you can, sidewall is your friend for both traction and wind-up in the tire to reduce driveline shock. Don't run too narrow of a rim or that will kill traction off the line too. Standard is tire width +/- 1".
