Well I took my car out to the track for one more last fling before she goes away for the winter. Me and my buddy John with a Vdub VR6 headed out to Byron Dragway south of rockford yesterday. I got there and there were a total of 12 cars running. I set the car up and made a pass and was having trouble with my boost controller. I have a Greddy profec B which only gives me 24 psi of boost, a hallman which will give me only 27 psi, so I tried my old EVC I which would give me 26 psi and then drop down to 20 (my wastegate setting). So I battled with this for a while and cranked down the wastegate arm on my internal and made another stab at it. My fast pass was clean, except the boost dropped from 27psi to 22 in 4th gear. This equivilated to the following

60' 1.797 (spun through 1st and part of 2nd)
330 4.911
1/8 7.404
MPH 99.75
1000 9.552
1/4 11.380
mph 122.34 (many people think the MPH at byron is off between 4 and 5 mph)

So I am very very happy with an 11.380 even though I know that car has more in it (damn boost controllers). Not too bad for a car with an unhacked 2G mas, driveline, on stock 17 inch wheels and nitto 450s if I dont say so my self.

Damn your car is moving! Take it to another track and get some real mph.

John, I guess this means you have to edit my time in the DSM Tuners fastest member thread. Thanks guys, this is years of work and tons of wheel time to get the car here. I started out the year with a fastest pass of an 11.94 the first time at the track and shaved off almost .5 of a second from that with no car changes so all in all a great year. The only thing I reall broke was a tranny bellhousing (from a dowel pin) and an oil cooler. Thanks all for all of your support. Next year I will see 10.XX one way or another.

Thats quite a nasty time for a car w/ your setup...how come you are limited to 24 psi w/ the profec B? Is it the internal wastegate? Maybe try using an external Tial(or equivalent) 35 or 40mm external for more control??

The whole point of buying the mutt when I did is that I didn't have to spend all the money on an external setup. My wastegate is adjustable and holds boost exactly where I want it every time except when my boost controller is failing. I know a lot of guys who are limited to 24psi on their Profec Bs for one reason or another. I am just going to stop being cheap and buy a manual Boost controller that I know will handle the boost I want. There is a possibility that I might be going to a different track on this upcoming sunday to see if I can get a better time hopefully with a proper boost controller.

10s man, that is hard to belive that I am this close. I never thought I would own an 11 second car. Once that happened I never thought it would be a low 11 second car. Now I can not fathom the idea of a 10 second car but you know I am damn sure going to try. I am proof positive of a guy that started small and built a car up to where it is now. Thanks again for any and all help I have gotten from people. 10s will come next year.

Thanks guys, Again I have to wait til next year til I get there but hopefully it wont be too deep into the year before I can say 10s. I need some traction and some boost control and I should be there. Thanks guys.

I have videos on VHS but I have not converted them to digital yet. I do not own a capture card though. I am working on getting them converted by a guy at work. As soon as I get them, I will be sure to pass them on. Thanks.

those are some sweet times. welded c diff would kick ass. i bet a nice little 50 shot would help out tons. the diamond star motorsport car dropped into the 10's with a nice 50 shot on a bone stock head. hope my car will be able to catch up to yours soon but i still have alot of work ahead of me. looking to finish by christmas and getting it broken in tuned and ready to race by jan 10th when my local tracks open back up again.

I am not doing a welded diff because Too many people break too many parts (axles). I am doing a 4 spider diff, hopefully light weight rims and drag radials, and then the new version of dsmlink with speed density. After all that, with proper boost control, I can't get into the 10s, then I will consider a 50 shot but I want to run 10s without spray. I know this turbo and setup are capable of it. I have to wait til april at least.
