:dsm: does any one have a suggested cool down period after each run or after a few runs.

30-45 minutes is good. It's always a good idea to have an ice bag and place it on the intake manifold and/or IC pipes to cool them off. Spray the FMIC and while lining up (if the track is busy,) keep the car running as minimum as possible so that all your cooling efforts don't go out the window. :thumb: That's what I do. ;)

Its not that I'm not all for cooling the car down for 30-45 minutes in between runs..
I hot lapped my car pretty much for 4 straight hours, ran about 35-40 times, twice; once late last year, and again 2 weeks ago. The last time it was about 90 degrees out, and I ran it non stop often straight hot lapping it, and ran nothing worse than 13.3 everytime.. FWIW, I saw NO negative affect of doing this.
If youre car can handle it, if it cant it wont, chances are best that hot lapping will lead to a much much sooner clutch death, but I dont own it anymore so I dont care... :sneaky:

i was just wondering because the other day i was racing back to back a few times and my car started to smoke so i thought i f'd something up but i let it cool down and it ran just fine

I always run my car (or try too) when it completely warmed up. Since I was bracket racing, there is no point in trying to run with the engine cold, cause I needed consistant runs.

My fastest run was after 3 back to back runs with no more then 5-10 minutes in between.

Here's what I do.

1. Let turbo cool down (turbo timer if you've got one)
2. Shut car off, turn ignition to ON without starting the car and push you AC button all the way in to activate the factory fans.
3. Pop hood to let heat escape.
4. Spray intercooler (if you're still on the stocker)
5. Let it sit for about 10 minutes with the fans on (Don't forget to that you have the fans on. Your battery won't like you).

Before your run again, make sure engine is in the optimum operating temperature.
