i went to the track for the first time after finally gettin my new turbo, having it dyno tuned and everything, and with the 271whp and 282tq on a mustang dyno i was expecting to atleast do a low 14 sec pass. I have super shitty tires, but thats still no reason to pull the time i did. Tell me where i can improve and any pointers you may have.

R/T... .926
60' ... 2.503
330... 6.668
1/8 ... 9.929
MPH... 76.60
1000.. 12.615
1/4 ... 14.837
MPH... 101.59

For all the money i spent doin everything in order, and having the car feel amazingly quick on the street, i dont think this time is justified. Any Help would be appreciated. :dsm:

Your 60' is horrible. You should be able to hit 2.1-2.2s on street tires.
That'll make a huge difference. Other than that, just practice. I imagine
you're running a 16G of some variety? If you want a comparison, my fwd tsi
went 13.6 @ 106, 2.1 60' on 20lbs (B16G). Would've been faster but my trans is fighting w/me and it took multiple tries to get it into 2nd and 3rd. I probly would've been able to hit 12s that night if the trans cooperated.

Without being there it's hard to give advice. Just practice, practice, practice.

Im going back to the track this friday, and wat rpm should i launch at, cause i only got two runs in and i was launching at 3-4 and that wasnt helping at all. But yeah, the power is there, i just hope im a shit driver, cause once my car is moving, i always pretty much catch up to the other car. I suppose practice makes perfect and i am severly lacking.

I can understand your frustration, but a little more information would help out. For example, what RPM did you launch at, what kind of boost were you running and are you still on the stock injectors? Does the car have full exhaust work done like a turbo back and if so, are you still running a cat? Also, what were your shift points?

The thing that jumped out at me instantly was how bad the 60' was and also how low the MPH is. I noticed that you have a 255 pump on the B&M Command Flow. It's been my understanding that you can't turn the fuel pressure down with one of those units and if so, you're running pig rich. Factory maps run a 9.5:1 A/F and if you're on stock injectors and that big pump with base pressure, you're running too rich to make any power. Also, what were your AFC settings?

I know how you feel in thinking that you've done everything in sequence, but if the profile is accurate then there's holes in your tuning equation that won't allow you to make the boost and power you should be making.

Get us some feedback on the above and we'll see where the problem is. Also, see if you can post your dyno plot or at least let us know what kind of air/fuel ratio you were running when you were being tuned.

Bullseye to4B is the turbo.Im on 680cc injectors, my afc settings lean out the higher i get into the revs, because of the fact of the crappy B&M, i launched at like 3k-4k, and my shift point was 7k because the turbo doesnt stop pulling. I have full turbo back, and the apexi gt eliminates the cat.The exact settings on my afc i cant tell u cause they are in the car, and im in the house, but ill look at them later.

Thanks for getting back to us. Based on your information what I see is injectors that are marginal for the AFC to handle, a pressure regulator that won't go down and a fuel system that's being overrun. People keep talking about your 60', which needs some work, but your trap speed tells me you're so rich it's not even funny. I'll bet if you pulled your plugs, you'd find carbon fouling and just for fun, stomp on it in any gear, get into the boost and you'll likely see black smoke at the hit of the throttle when you look in the rear view.

There's a few ways to lean out here. Provided you can cool the intake charge, keep raising the boost to lean out (not what I'd recommend if you don't have a logger) or get a proper AFPR that will allow you to turn the fuel pressure down a bit and compensate for the overrun you're getting with the 255 pump on the Command Flow. A third option would be to change the 255 for a 190 and then dial UP fuel pressure if you need to. Either way, you really need a logger to tell what's happening.

Hope that helps,

Andy

P.S. Try lowering your tire pressure to 22-25 in the front, raise the rears since they just roll (40 should be good) and slip the clutch at 2500. do some dry hops before you get to the line and see where she sticks.

I hope i dont run into a similar situation. Im making very similar numbers on the same turbo. i hope to run at least a mid 13 on track day. tires do make a big difference though!

Well, i found an oil leak, and I am going to have that fixed. Also, i will be having it dynoed at a shop i trust, cause the car doesnt pull like it should. I will see what kinda of times I can pull in a few weeks when i have a chance to make it back to the track. Thanks for the help.

I spoke too soon. At English town on Sunday 6/5/05, my first run was a 14.7XX with a horrible reation time and 60 foot. The reason is that i launched at 4.5k, drooping down to 3 after launch(no boost yet). Second run(less tire pressure 22psi), WAY BETTER. 14.074 at 103.2mph. My reation and 60' still sucks but what a difference less tire pressure and a second chance does.

Keep in mind i ran with a 3/4 tank of 93 octane(no race gas). and a trunk full of crap.
BTW.....i made 254hp and 260 trq on a dynojet twoo weeks before @ 16psi( sorry, the comp messed up and i was unable to retrieve my numbers)......all before i took of the cat!!!

MarroneclipseGST, better luck next time, I'm sure we will both hit 13s with the right combo.
your reaction time and 60 foot is even worst than mine. STOP SLEEPING AT THE LINE!. :D
