Help with speed on Talon!!

Hey guys i just bought a 96 Talon Tsi Awd which is mostly stock except for 3" catless exhaust and an Injen Intake. My freind has the same mods on his 95 gsx except i have heavy 18 rims and he has stockies. Now my check engine light is on because i have no cat or 02 sensor (thanks to previous owner) when my friend and i race he pulls on me very hard and i was wondering why this could be. Its not me as a driver becuase we have switched cars with teh same outcome. Are the rims holding me back or is it the catless exhaust that is screwing with my 02 readings messing me up that much?

Your car should actually have a little more power with the cat removed. The missing 02 sensor on the other hand could cause problems. This may have been better posted in one of the tech sections. I don't know if you missing your 02 sensor is enough to make the computer run in default mode but if it is it could deffinatly mess wit your power. I would recomend putting a cat in just to be enviromentally nice and legal but I would sugest you get an 02 sensor in there asap. If you don't weld you should be able to get someone to weld a bung into your exhaust pretty cheap and easy. Have you read the codes to see if that's all that is wrong?

ok well it looks like the only CEL that was on was an EGR malfunction (po403) so i guess the 02 sensors are there. I guess its just the 18's that are slowing me down then. Plus i think my wires might be on the way out.

General tune up should help. 18's will make abit off difference but not really that much.

Do a tuneup, check for boost leaks, and you could check your timing and compression. Do you have a datalogger? That would help a lot too.
