WOW i am impress with the Evo 16g

With these mods i pulled a [email protected] mph at 18PSI ONLY UNTUNED AND DOWNPIPE, EXHAUST AND MOSTLY FUEL MANAGEMENT STOCK WITH A 2ND GEAR THAT WILL MAKE ANYONE LOOSE HALF A SECOND AND HAD A LITTLE BOOST LEAK. Ran 100 octane. The sucky part is I only had two runs that day and that was it. I know for sure i would easily slide in the 12's if i had more runs that day. I dont mean to be cocky but im just impress of my 4 cylinder turbo kicking some major swap v-tecs, twin-turbo's, Supercharge, big ass v8's and turbocharge cars. WOW I LOVE MY DSM.

Nothing impressive about your times really. People have gone quicker on the stock turbo. If you cannot get the stock turbo in the low 13's or into the 12's your tuning needs work. Tuning makes the HP. :thumb:

I am not tryin to be a jerk either but your times could be way better.....i have the same mods with stock turbo and ran 13.7@101.. and thats at 17psi...if i ran 18psi too then i could also run 13.6...stock unported 14b.....keep tryin.... :thumb:

It's not about me being nice. I am just telling him the truth. That's not good at all. A buddy just 2 weeks ago on his laser AWD dropped his downpipe and turned up his boost to 16-17psi and ran a 13.3. Nothing else done to it.

There's a reason why there's an upgrade path. Instead of buying that turbo you should have done a full 3" exhaust first imho. That would have probably yielded better results even with the 14B.

Just throwing a bunch of parts on the car will not make it fast. Invest in a datalogger of some kind as well. :thumb:
 
I ran in the 13.50s @101 in a GVR4 (300lbs heavier) with pretty much the same mods except with a 14b @16 psi pump gas,3" exhaust,stock IC pipes and no AFC...

I added a Starquest IC,fixed a TB leak,and 20psi on Cam 2 went 12.96@105

Not to rub more salt in the wound.. :)
 
Only would DSM owners nit pick on each other for "not running up to par" with the rest of the crowd. :rolleyes: Yes, it's possible to run quicker times with the stock turbo. But not everyone has a fresh turbo/motor. Or the means to fine tune their setups as of yet.

If the guy is satisfied with is turbo, then let him be. With a little more tuning and track time, I'm sure he'll be blown away at what the E3B16G could do... ;)

Well sorry but if that was me then i would sooner know my car could be faster then guys lying and me thinkin it was a goood time.....And no i dont have a new engine or turbo...my times are on a car with 120k miles on it with stock clutch as well... and no tuning what soever......he just needs to keep tryin and he will dial it in....good luck :thumb:
 
Those traps are terrible, I am glad for the guy, glad that he likes it specially, cause if you dont like your car it gets madening every time you drive it. Any ways, Team_Unknown your trap speeds are pretty slow, you probly have a bigger leak than you think or you are heat soaking your sidemount (sorry I didn't read through every thing). I think with some simple maintenence, or maybe show these guys some logs we can have your car running 5 mph through the traps easily. I guess first thing you should do is post a log, or go out and buy a logger, run the car a few times, log some logs, then post some logs :thumb:
 
I'm looking at your ET vs. MPH and it's pretty good. 13.6 at 99 mph and 14.2 at 88mph(14b) tells me you are driving the car hard. Keep it up! When my AWD car was stock it also hit 88 mph, but I could only manage to go 15.2 on a slipping clutch.

Are you shifting into 4th? Staying in 3rd and bouncing off the rev limiter? Two runs isn't enough to experiment with different techniques, I hope you get more runs next time.
 
all the other 14.2's trapped between 94-98 so he is a bit slow.


Honestly it is probly not his driving, just some thing in the fuel or timing curves..........


Never know until he gets a logger or dsmlink though.........
 
Hey Team...decent runs bro. I ran a 13.9 at 99.86 running 18psi on 116 race fuel. I had all the mods in my profile except for the fidanza flywheel, act clutch, balance shaft removal kit, fmic and all the piping. So our mods were fairly similar. I think the key to getting a low et and high trap in an awd is all in the launch. I had five runs that day...I never got below 2.1-2.2 60 ft times. This is why I am curious to know what your 60ft times were. I wouldnt be surpirsed to have run a low 13 or even high 12 with a 1.8 or 1.7 60ft. It mostly depends on how aggressive you were, tuning, shift points etc...oh and I hear the EVO turbo doesnt reach its peak until 21-23psi or higher.
