Out of the six runs I did, I only got off one decent one,...and that was the [email protected]. I did this with about 18lbs of boost. Either the spyder is not a good drag car or I'm a bad driver (probably both). Here was the printout:

R/T .... 1.252 (I don't care about my R/T)
60' ..... 2.496
330 .... 6.535
1/8 .... 9.592
MPH ... 81.42
1000 ... 12.135
1/4 ..... 14.279
MPH .... 105.23

I lost pretty much every single race (they were all V8's with slicks and one DSM AWD). Is it my 60' time that's killing me? I know the spyder is not a "hard core" drag car but with all the crap that I've done to it I was expecting a better time. Oh well,...this was only my second time at the strip. Maybe practice makes perfect. Oh yeah, and I refuse to run slicks.

Well, basically you picked the worst dsm to drag race with..well almost, at least it's a turbo. Anyway, the convertibles are the heaviest and FWD. But the good news is that 105 is good for high 12's in an awd.

Just practice launching and shifting. If you can get your 60' below 2.0 you'll pull MUCH better ET's. you might consider some slicks or drag radials to help you hook up.

There must be a tuning issue as well, since with your mods you should be running traps in the 115+ range, however you said you were running on 18 psi. I suggest you get some race gas next time and crank that boost up to about 25psi. Let that Green make some power!

The goods news: TURBOTSI is right, 105mph is fast enough for 12's in a well driven AWD, not that that helps you much :)

Good luck next time at the track.

Thanks for the tips, but i know what im doing wrong. My tires are plenty sticky and hook up very well. My problem is that i ease my way off the line, then punch it. I can launch great, but its those first five feet that im just rolling.

I was refering to the guy in the spyder.

With AWD and 109 traps all you need to do it drive your car a little harder and you'll be in the 12's. Hold the RPM's at about 5K after pre-stage then floor it and dump it on the 3rd yellow, you should be spinning a little off the line. Good luck

well believe it or not we're about the same weight becuase your convertable and i have a heavy system.. we're both FWD so I think we should be able to do the same..

get your 60ft down.. a high 2.4 is BAD.. put some race gas in that thing and keep practicing your launch and youll get her into the mid 13s.. weight reduction and you could drop lower

Seriously, with your mods and your times, it is really starting to worry me about the spyder.

I ran consistent 9.8's in the 1/8th mile with MBC, Intake, UIP, and Greddy Type S BOV on 18 inch rims.

You are only running a 9.5 1/8th with a GREEN!!!

Come on man, is it the tuning? Is it the driving? I'm not trying to flame here, but I really want to know.

I really think it needs to be tuned.

I forgot if you had a front mount, but i think you were running race gas and 18 psi...am i right?

I was trapping higher with a small 16G. i think some major tuning is in order.

How much boost were you running and were you on race gas? I'll have some times to post soon with my Green hopefully. I never ran the 1/4 on my Big28. Best I managed was a 9.2@80 with 18lbs of boost on pump gas with a 2.2x 60ft. I just think you need to get that thing tuned. Good Luck,

i ran 13.5@110 with a green on stock head, stock cams, stock tb and i was "one wheel drive" - no quaife. I had a mix of pump and race and the car wasnt tuned for mix. My 60 foots were terrible (2.2) but 2.4 with Quife  i don't know what to say. Practice launchin and get it tuned. I'm not a good launcher either
good luck

1. 18 lbs is low boost.. pump gas boost
2. Use slicks.. your cams / green combo will overpower normal tires and drag radials are still not great.
3. seat time.. you cant add mods and expect to turn times around in any car.. just practice.. the cars got it.. dont let this time discourage you. :)
4. up the boost, run race gas and retune the car.. 105mph is a clear indication its not tuned enough.

Good luck

Thanks guys. Since winter is coming up here in MN I probably won't do much to the car until next spring, so I won't be able to give you guys an update in the near future. Right now, I'm just trying to fix this problem I have with some tranny fluid seeping out of both axels. Well, I'll let you guys know next year!

Ummm...just to reiterate to you..your trap speeds resemble a 14b powered fwd with just exhaust and a boost controller....Not trying to be a dick but realize that there is something definately wrong with your car!!!

ahaha..it's beyond me the way some people go about doing their mods...Well I'll give you one thing...at least you went out and bought parts...more than I can say for the other 95% of the people on this board...God I hate benchracers.....

nahh larryd...you have an impressive list of mods and as long as you keep at it, I'm sure you'll get there... So you're safe for now....
