This was my first drag race. I missed 2nd gear on all three runs and the best that I could do was [email protected]. With this trap and missing 2nd gear, what should I expect if I have a mistake free run? Also, anyone having trouble with 2nd gear during drags?

Just granny shift second, no need to bang it. I don't have problems with second, however third can give me problems. I just jam it in anyways.

talk about a 13 sec car and a 15 sec driver...you should be running possible low 13's with some traction

no offense but you should be runnin ALOT better.. sounds like you got some real tuning issues.. with the Green and FWD you should be trapping atleast 110mph..

You missed a gear, hard to say.

Go back and do a mistake free run, or there bouts. Then post trap speeds again.

Dear god! At least 110 on pump gas and that would only be acceptable if it was your first time out/poor tuning. The biggest bang for the buck you can get right now is proper tuning.

I had my car tuned on a dyno so I think it's ok. It's just that I couldn't get into 2nd gear all three runs resulting in the poor trap time. Oh well, I guess I'll have to learn to drive.

he made 310 on pump i was there, were you running pump at the track?
and i'm guessing it was rf?, if so that trackis more like a ice rink

I made 270 to the wheels on my 94 with a stock sidemount, full exhaust and old style afc. I would go back to the dyno and turn up the boost.

if i remember correctly we couldn't for some reason, which i forgot of course.

you should be laying down some serious times with that setup man. its better to shift a little slow than to miss the gear.

even with missing a gear your traps should still be high.. just your ETs go up.. shouldnt you have made more then 310 at the wheels with the green though?

That's what I was thinking. I was expecting at least 350 at the wheels at 17lbs of boost. I was only able to put out 310. I checked for leaks and everything turned out ok. I tuned it on a pretty modern dyno here in Minneapolis. Even the guy who tuned it for me said he was dissapointed with my numbers. I'm not sure where I'm losing power. Maybe I'll go with a stand-alone next year. I also might switch to HKS cams. Oh well.....

I would not switch to a stand alone..that would just mulitply your problems..Try and figure out what is wrong with your current setup before adding any new parts!!! It won't make you feel any better but you should have saved the $5000 in mods and ran those times with the T-25..

I know when I missed a shift, it would slow me down a few mph. That was when I had a 16g combo. A bigger turbo would multiply things because of the extra lag getting it to go again.

Cut the man some slack.
