I took my pan off and found this. There were also a lot of little chunks, they appear to be all carbon thank god. Now is this anything to worry about? Looks like some extra alum metal flash from something.

Its a casting that has come off. Bearing pieces will be curls of shiny metal. that is an aluminum piece. Bearings are strengthen with silicon and look different. That piece has bumps in it just like the head does.

or .............the little pits in it are from it continusly binding with something. you ever see what happens to the top of a piston when a piece of foriegn object gets in there? looks just like that

If the OP want to ship that piece to me I will definately confirm if it is a casting from the head. There are some hanging castings on the head. I could probably shave one off and take a pic.

no prob. austin, i will pay for the shipping for you to do your scientific experiments on the tiny piece of non-casting of the head piece of metal LOL:nono:

you are too funny:rolleyes:

You guys are bored haha. I was putting the springs back into the head and there are lots of those ridges in there. Nothing to worry about then.:thumb:

Yeah, nothing really to worry about as long as it made its way to the oil pan without being mangled on any part of the engine. It most definitely is a casting extra from the head.

Still, I would probably replace the oil filter and do a fresh oil change just to be somewhat safe. After that, monitor your oil for anything else suspicious.
