Buying a tsi or gsx vs. making a gst awd

Ok, i have been looking for a tsi awd or gsx awd chassis but they dont come easy in bufu illinois i'm wondering what would be more budget friendly. Waiting for a tsi rolling chassis or buying a gst or fwd tsi and making it awd?

I think it would cost less to buy a GSX/TSI AWD than to make a fwd into an awd. Theres a thread on here somewhere with all the info on how to do the conversion and how much it cost. Do a quick search and im sure you'll see that most would recomend to just buy the AWD model instead of converting.

Easy answer. Wait for an awd to come up. Think about all the work you will have to do to convert to an awd. Why not play around with a fwd for a while? Not sure how new you are to the DSM world but it was my first and it was a lot of fun to me. Either way you are going to have to wait for an awd shell to come around so you can use the rear, trans, driveshaft, etc from the donor shell.

It would be more cost effective and alot easier to wait for the TSI AWD or the GSX, to do a AWD swap on a FWD you pritty much need a AWD donor car to rape for parts, not to mention the custom work you have to do and the time to complete the swap.

Here is a link to a thread about doing the conversion.

Another thing to think about. You have a good car to start out with, and many of the mods you put on your car will go on to a gsx when you find one. Learn what you need and when that awd comes along, go crazy on it!!!!

Discussed to death. In short, the conversion job will cost you about as much as another car. If you want AWD, wait it out and/or be prepared to travel.
