So I'm picking up a second DSM 1g TSI. Couldnt pass it up. I dont know a lot about the car other than the owner say's it needs a head gasket. He said he was driving it about 500 feet before he said it had a lack in power as well as smoke. So he parked it. I was told the car had an upgraded 16g with some internals but not sure what else he only got the car in trade. The turbo doesn't have any shaft play and I will have to put a few things back on to get it running. I'm guessing he is not too dsm savy so I'm thinking could be minor but whats the est time on replacing a head gasket? Whats the easiest steps to do so with simple hand tools in my yard

Head gasket is easy, like the guy above me said grab a manual and a Saturday and it's done... If the head isn't warped. You need to check the head for flatness before you think to re-install it; chances are the head gasket blew from over-heating, heat warps heads.

Searching and checking the tech articles is helpful, lots of info out there.

I think the head gasket blew from over boosting and non proper mods LOL
